VegCF is having a benefit bake sale! Here’s the scoop:
What: Vegan Bake Sale benefiting Food for Life Global
When: Monday, July 12, 2010 6:00 PMWhere:
Stardust Video and Coffee
1842 E. Winter Park Road
Orlando, FL 32803
( 407) 622-3393Vegetarians of Central Florida is hosting another Vegan Bake Sale!
We will have a table from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the Audubon Park Community Market, located in front of Stardust Video and Coffee. We invite all VegCF members to come buy lots of vegan goodies, and we would also like LOTS of volunteers to bake goodies, help promote the event, and a couple of people to help me sell the goodies.
The best part about this bake sale is that 100% of sales goes to Food for Life Global, a food relief organization that gives vegan food to the hungry throughout the world.
If you have never been to the Audubon Market, it’s a GREAT farmers/craft/foodie market every Monday evening. Come drop off your baked goodies, eat dinner, possibly get a chair massage, buy some homemade salsa, soap, etc., hang out with us, and take home some other vegan goodies.
If you would like to bake goodies and have not done so at a previous VegCF bake sale, email Jessi, the organizer of this event (jessivanpelt@gmail.com) for further instructions. When you RSVP, please mention what you are baking and/or how you’d like to help.
Please RSVP on the VegCF Meetup page.

I’ve made these before — it’s cool!
It’s Raining, It’s Pouring… Make a Rain Barrel Catchment System
Environmental Engineer Terry Meer will demonstrate how to make a rain barrel catchment system for your home or garden.
Collection of water from rooftop runoff can provide an ample supply of free ‘soft water’ containing no chlorine, lime or calcium. Rainwater is ideal for many uses, it will also lower your monthly water bill and lessen your impact on the land.

It is today, May 21st at 6:30pm at the First Unitarian Church of Orlando. Head toward the education building near the playground to the Assembly Room. Facebook RSVP here.
Transition Orlando is part of Transition US. From their website:
“Transition US is a nonprofit organization that provides inspiration, encouragement, support, networking, and training for Transition Initiatives across the United States. We are working in close partnership with the Transition Network, a UK based organization that supports the international Transition Movement as a whole.
The Transition Movement is a vibrant, grassroots movement that seeks to build community resilience in the face of such challenges as peak oil, climate change and the economic crisis. It represents one of the most promising ways of engaging people in strengthening their communities against the effects of these challenges, resulting in a life that is more abundant, fulfilling, equitable and socially connected.
We believe that we can make the transition to a more sustainable world. We hope that you will join us.”
