WHAT
The “Orlando Green Guide” is a blog for holistic-minded, eco-conscious families who are interested in natural living throughout Central Florida.
The goal is to create a source of product reviews, family friendly local events or activities, deals, tips and tutorials, and more by local parents for local parents. Topics covered include alternative care practitioners, natural childbirth information, nontoxic pest control, natural housekeeping services, organic foods, and more.
Visitors to our site are encouraged to share their comments as well to help create a valuable resource for our local green community (specifically families with children).

Just stumbled on your site whilst looking for recycling info for Orange County. Looks like a great resource and although it seems to be populated by women mostly with lots of information for those having or with children, I think this old pagan guy will still find plenty like-minded people sharing useful information.
My own interests are self-sufficiency, herbalism and living a life that revolves around the natural rhythms as much as possible.
Thanks for the site.
Greetings…….
We had a wonderful family join our practice today who raved about the Central Florida Green Guide!!
The mother went on and on about how I needed to check-out your website and insisted we “join”. She had been looking for a holistic dentist for weeks.
I work for Dr. George W. (Bill) Edwards and Dr. David W. Edwards. Dr. Bill has been practicing in Sanford for 40 years, 20 years of which has been HOLISTIC. Dr. Bill’s son, Dr. David, joined the practice over a year ago.
You really do provide a wealth of information for natural-minded families in Central Florida. Truth be known, you probably provide a wealth of information for families across the country since you’re so accessible.
Since I don’t see a reference to dentistry, please consider our office available to “bridge a gap”. We would be happy to answer any questions related to holistic dentistry that may arise.
Sincerely,
Ja’ Moore

Our writers are largely parent volunteers — so yes, there is a strong leanign toward family info. But we appreciate the suggestions for more topics! I’ll def. pass them on!

I am a holistic life coach living on the emerald coast, near Destin. I am interested in spending a few weeks at an ecovillage to expand my understanding of whole living and gain a broader perspective of how to use sustainable concepts in my practice. Do you have a work-exchange or internship program available? Thank you.

Hello,
My name is Bill Hawthorne, and I represent maacenter.org, a leading web resource for asbestos exposure and mesothelioma cancer information. Our organization is dedicated to increasing awareness of the terrible health consequences of asbestos exposure through the distribution of the best informational materials and public outreach efforts.
I found your site through a search and decided to contact you because of its high environmental and green presence which is extremely important in our movement. Your viewers are extremely savvy and motivated. The promotion of how buildings should now be built using green products to avoid asbestos and mesothelioma as well as the awareness of past buildings and preventative steps in avoiding asbestos exposure are extremely important. My goal is to get a resource link on your site.
I look forward to hearing from you. Please feel free to check out our website at http://www.maacenter.org. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Bill

Sort of stumbled on you on FB. Live up in Sanford area and looking for more options to buy healthier. I work as a nursing instructor, but also teach herbalism and organic gardening up here – on hiatus right now until we can get a schedule going for regular classes. I am not sure fi I can offer much help – recovering from crude right now – but I will keep an eye out and if I am ever where you are doing this – which where is it by the way? Trying to find it on site but so far am not seeing it.
HOping to find more local resources for many things! Thanks

Great blog. Your viewers may want to check out a new green project being worked on by Ruth Begelman to organize a community garden in the Oviedo area with opportunities to learn about organic gardening, to have access to your own plot to grow your own vegetables and you will also be able to purchase produce grown by others. The project is in the planning stages. Ruth and her group of volunteers are working to get support from the city of Oviedo to launch this. Anyone interested may want to check out their website http://www.TheOviedoFarm.org
Hello, i found your site at yahoo and you are providing interesting stuff. I like it,
hi there
I was wondering of you might be having a winter solstice celebration again this year. We will be visiting the area that week and will miss our usual one here in Toronto.
Or perhaps you know of other ones in the Orlando area. any help appreciated
The WRCF.org one is Dec 19 and the First Unitarian one (www.orlandouu.org) is Dec 21. University Unitarian (universityuus.org) may also be observing it.
It is amazing how we are just “led” to what we need if we just open up and ask.
